Spring Equinox and Supply Chain Parallels

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.” — Proverb

Impermanence

Spring Equinox, also known as the Vernal Equinox, is today, March 20th, 2023. This celestial time in the northern hemisphere when the sun makes its way over the equator, signaling the beginning of increasingly longer days, earlier sunrises, and later sunsets.

For many, the spring equinox represents rebirth, optimism, growth, and opportunity.

The timing for every vernal equinox coincides with a promising report that lead times continue to improve across most market segments, as well as continued improvement in order fill rates. Commodity prices remain volatile, but most prices have remained well below pandemic highs over the past three years. We are also seeing a slowing of announced price increases across market segments as inflation slows, commodities and transportation lesser costs and with continued economic headwinds.

As with the changes that come with each new season, we are reminded of impermanence within the global supply chain too.  We are constantly in a state of flux to which we must sense and adapt.

What’s important to remember is that we are in this together. The TradeTrans team looks forward to continuing to partner with our supply chain community and we will be here to help you navigate what is ahead.

We’re here to help, let’s connect.
