HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Since TradeTrans opened its doors upwards four decades ago, the company has grown from one man’s vision to one of the world’s leading export supply chain management companies for foodservice and beyond. To that end, much of our success has been credited to the accountability and trustworthiness within our team.
Here is our story…
TradeTrans beginnings back to June 1973, when a young Robert L. Antes began his career with large multi-national corporation. Within a year, he seized an opportunity with the their operations group sparked a passion and natural knack for food service exporting.
In 1978 Antes parted ways from from corporate life and traveled the country for several months. Eventually settling in Florida, he ventured a small business- start up. Although the business did not prove successful, he attributes his failed endeavor gaining invaluable lessons. These lessons eventually led to the future success of TradeTrans.
Returning to his home state of New York, Antes began work in a freight forwarding division of a global cargo inspection firm. He was quickly promoted to a management position that led him to the firm’s California office. Before too long, Antes was transferred to Seattle as a project manager for a regional freight forwarder which would eventually become FedEx.
In 1982, a small exporting company approached Antes to lead an operations upgrade. He negotiated the customer-base purchase when the firm decided to close its doors in 1984. Hence, TradeTrans was formed. Learning from prior experiences, Antes ran the new company while working as president for a start-up national trucking company.
In 1986, Antes made the move to put all his efforts into developing TradeTrans into his vision of a food service supply chain management leader.
Over 14 years of hard work, Antes grew TradeTrans from a solo business owner to a seven million-dollar operation. During this time, he led the international expansion with big brand quick service restaurant (QSR) franchisers in the coffee, donuts and fried chicken categories.
In 2001, TradeTrans took on global distribution management for one of the world’s premier ice cream brands. For this reason, the operations moved to a 33,000 square-foot office-warehouse complex in Chester, NY.
TradeTrans continues to grow in global distribution, purchasing, warehousing leading to a 7,000-square foot facility expansion in 2012.
TradeTrans celebrates 35 years with a new brand. A new website and logo are introduced, along with the tag line “Moving the World for You.”
